FREE-TO-PLAY: HOPE FOR GAMERS LIKE US

Computer gaming is perhaps one of the best tension relievers available to anyone. You don’t forget your troubles, or those pesky bosses that always lingers waiting to ruin your day.  You can simply place yourself to your avatar; your computer game alter-ego and focus your attention on the matters that aren’t quite so serious like blasting your enemies with a first person shooter character or conquering the base of your online adversary when playing that new online game which is so common in all internet café’s nowadays.

One genre which I am especially addicted is the world of Online Role Playing games.  From casting spells to slicing your enemies with that purple light saber, playing these kinds of games always brought sheer amount of joy for me.  Role playing games share common characteristics with each other, almost all requires a player to handle character stats.  Now these illustrate how your character is in the gaming world.  How strong is your character or how well he can wield that sword and how much damage he can do to an enemy are dictated by his character stats.  These games allow you to visit a persistent world from your deepest fantasies where you can meet fairies, elves dwarves and kill your share of dragons. Another possible world is a far off future where cyborgs are as common as going to other planets in a battle cruiser. read more »

The runtime project is part of Novell’s Mono effort, which has been responsbile for putting Microsoft .Net-based technologies on Linux and other non-Microsoft platforms. Mono running on the Android, but it’s also all the APIs so you can talk to the Android APIs.

Steve Wozniak recently said that he believes Android will be dominant in sales in the smartphone area due to the variety of devices based on Android on the market. When I look at the growth of mobile and specifically Android, I’m truly amazed by what I see. As a Microsoft .NET Framework developer, I get jealous when I look at Android and iPhone. They’re the two platforms currently getting the most attention in the smartphone marketplace.

Developers on the Mono project also are readying a version of Silverlight for Apple’s iPhone, with a preview due in August. TINY FUEL CELL AS NEW BATTERIES

Nippon Oil Corp. and Seibu Gas Energy Co. began installing 150 ENE FARM power generation units in houses across Maebaru starting in October 2008. These are one- kilowatt class, residential fuel cell co-generation systems developed by Nippon Oil. The systems can cover about 60% of a home’s power consumption and about 80% of its hot water supply.

It’s been quite a wait, yet it is a large step forward to take on the battery markets. Several other small fuel cell makers may in fact come to market within several years like Panasonic and AquaFairy. One thing is for sure is that all concerned will now be fine tuning their respective products , fuel supply and price strategies. The commercial availability of these products also means significant technological innovation in other areas as a consequence. Horizon may not use let’s say its current small metal hydride cylinders as a supply for its MiniPak. It will probably develop the new material it developed in late 2010 to refuel cheaply the MinPak when needed. read more »
